Accessibility

Hôpital Notre-Dame Hospital (Hearst) strives at all times to provide its goods and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities. Information &
Visiting Hours

The information/central reception is located at the main entrance, near the gift shop. There is someone available from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You will need to take a number to register for the following:

Physiotherapy 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Respiratory Therapy 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
X-rays, Ultrasound, Mammography 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Laboratory 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. | No lab work takes place in the afternoon.
Specialty Clinic 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. | Register directly at the clinic on the 2nd floor, if appointment is after 4:00 p.m.
Chemotherapy, Telehealth Register at those locations. You do not need to stop at information/central reception.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours are from 1:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. We ask that you wait until 1:00 p.m. to visit as a courtesy to respect the privacy of our patients.

Visiting Regulations

Visiting regulations allow the patient to welcome his family and friends. It offers the patient moral as well as psychological support while always respecting their comfort and well-being.

If you need to know the patient’s room number, simply ask at the Information Office on the first floor or ask the nursing station of the floor. As a courtesy to our patients, we ask that you visit after 1:00 p.m. in order to respect privacy during morning care.

Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult and must behave in respect to the patient care environment. For example, not being disruptive to other patients and/or staff members. If a child does not behave accordingly, he/she will be requested to leave the premises.

All visitors must leave the room whenever nursing care is being administered to the patient. As well, when doctors enter the room, visitors may be requested to leave the room.

The charge nurse has the responsibility to curtail and/or cancel visiting privileges in the following circumstances:

  • If the number of visitors in the room is determined detrimental to the comfort of the patient or to the other patient(s) in the room. If a request to leave the room is not respected, the security officer will be contacted.
  • The visiting privileges may be restricted or cancelled if requested by the patient or the other patient(s) occupying the room.
  • The visiting privileges may be restricted or cancelled by the charge nurse depending on the condition of the patient or the condition of the other patient(s) occupying the room.
  • Visitors may be requested at any time to leave the room so that required medical/nursing care can be properly administered to the patient(s) occupying the room.

It is important that the visit is a pleasant one for both the patient and the visitor(s).

& Vending

Patient Food Services

The Patient Food Services Department team consists of one Food Service Coordinator, Diet Technicians, Cooks and Food Service Workers. Our services offer a three-week cycle menu with selective or non-selective menus. Our meal service includes tray service, dining room/table service. We have three kitchenettes that are accessible 24 hours per day on every level. We offer a variety of foods recommended by Canada’s Food Guide.

Meals will be served at the following times:

Breakfast 7:30 a.m.
Lunch 11:15 a.m. – 11:45 p.m.
Dinner 4:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Upon admission, if you are on a special diet or have any special needs, allergies you will be seen by our clinical nutrition services. You will receive a menu to fill out two days in advance with your proper diet, please return this completed menu with your tray. If you have any concern regarding your diet, please speak to your nurse to notify food service.

Visitor Services

We have a cafeteria located on the basement level with limited access. Visitors need permission to access the cafeteria. You can ask the floor nurse or the information desk for access information. It’s open from Monday to Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.

Also, we have one refrigerated vending machine that offers a variety of healthy snacks. The vending machine takes $20, $10, and $5 bills, as well as coins. We also have a coffee machine. Both vending machines are accessible anytime of the day, and are located in the hallway near the Emergency Department.

ATM

An ATM machine is located in front of the elevators on the main floor. (PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR ATM MACHINE IS OUT OF ORDER UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE)

Gift Shop

The gift shop is located in the lobby of the main entrance. All gift shop proceeds go towards the purchase of something for the hospital and its patients.

Gift Shop Hours

The gift shop is operated by volunteers, which means some hours of operations might change without notice. The table below displays our current gift shop hours.

Tuesday to Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Parking

We offer free parking to all our patients and visitors; however, we ask all patients and visitors without accessibility needs to please park in the designated area situated on the west side of the hospital. It’s the large parking area across from the main entrance; the parking near the main entrance is reserved for people with Accessible Parking Permits.

Please do not park in the Emergency parking lot, unless it’s an emergency. Please consult the site map for further details.
